E8 Lattice Voronoi Cross-Sections Reveal 24-Fold Symmetry and Quaternion Quasicrystal Link — E8 Intelligence Research
FINDING: E8 lattice Voronoi 3D cross-sections exhibit 24-fold symmetry in specific planes, and a quaternion order parameter links E8 to icosahedral quasicrystal solidification. MATH: E8 root system (240 roots, 8D), Coxeter plane projection yields 30-fold symmetry (order 30) in standard view; alternate plane yields order 24 symmetry. Quaternion orientational order parameter classifies isotropic-to-icosahedral quasicrystal transition via E8 lattice formation in 8D. CONNECTION: 24-fold symmetry links to 24-cell (self-dual regular polytope in 4D, 24 vertices, 24 octahedral cells) and its Voronoi cell (also a 24-cell). 24-cell is the convex hull of the 24 quaternionic units (binary tetrahedral group). Icosahedral quasicrystal order (5-fold, 3-fold, 2-fold axes) emerges from 3D slice of E8, which contains the 600-cell (120 vertices, 600 tetrahedral cells) as a 4D projection — the 600-cell's symmetry group is the binary icosahedral group (order 120).
