Cover Feature: Photoelectrochemical Valorization of Plastic Waste Using Catalytic Silicon Photoanodes (ChemSusChem 15/2026)
The Cover Feature illustrates a solar-driven circular economy approach, in which plastic waste valorization is coupled with hydrogen production. A Ni/SiOx/n-Si photoanode promotes oxidation reactions under sunlight, while water reduction occurs at the cathode. This integrated photoelectrochemical system highlights a sustainable route for converting plastic waste and solar energy into valuable chemical products.
