On a New Issue and The Journal's Progress

We are pleased to present the third issue of volume 18 of the Ibnosina Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (IJMBS). It brings together contributions spanning clinical medicine, immunology, cardiovascular research, endocrinology, experimental science, and pediatric oncology. Several of the articles included in this issue have already been published online ahead of print, reflecting the journal's commitment to the timely dissemination of new research. The issue opens with a comprehensive review of aquagenic urticaria, exploring the immunological complexity of this rare but clinically important condition and highlighting current understanding of its pathophysiology and diagnostic challenges. The original research articles address a diverse range of topics. One study evaluates the prognostic value of the systemic immune-inflammation index and systemic inflammatory response index for predicting in-hospital mortality among patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Another examines the clinical characteristics and outcomes of diabetic ketoacidosis at Benghazi Medical Center, Libya, providing valuable regional data on this serious endocrine emergency. A further contribution reviews experimental approaches used in the study of inflammatory joint diseases, summarizing contemporary laboratory models and research methodologies that continue to advance understanding of these complex disorders. The issue concludes with a challenging clinical case report describing a virilizing adrenocortical carcinoma in a child, emphasizing the diagnostic difficulties and unfavorable clinical course associated with this rare pediatric malignancy. Together, these contributions illustrate the breadth of contemporary biomedical research published in IJMBS and underscore the importance of integrating clinical observation with translational and experimental investigation. Regarding the Journal's progression, three observations are noteworthy. First, the wider geographical scope of submitted articles in the last couple of years from India, Africa, and Turkey. Second, IJMBS is a peer-reviewed medical journal indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index which is part of the Web of Science Core Collection with an improved impact factor of 0.7, and finally, we have been informed by our publisher (Thieme) that they have progressed very well in the applications for inclusion in two to three scientific databases that are important to many of our potential authors. We thank our authors, reviewers, and readers for their continued support and hope that the articles in this issue will prove informative and stimulate further research and collaboration.
