Adapting to Change, Maintaining Joy: Engaged Learning at a Small Catholic College
In this case study from Saint Maryʼs College of California, we provide examples of how one small, Lasallian, Catholic, liberal arts college navigates an engaged learning graduation requirement while cultivating joy and resilience in the context of a challenging economy and uncertain political climate. While we are clear-eyed about the challenges of the cultural and political moment, we also return to our Lasallian Core Principles in adopting and sustaining this engaged learning work.Despite challengesfinancial, geographical, political, labor, or College policies-faculty continue to teach EL because it is both a calling and a source of personal joy.
