Research Progress of Three‐Terminal Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells Based on Back‐Contact Silicon

Perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells (PSTSCs) have surpassed 34% efficiency, outperforming single‐junction silicon cells. However, challenges like current matching and parasitic absorption hinder the commercial application of two‐terminal (2T) and four‐terminal (4T) PSTSCs. In this regard, three‐terminal (3T) PSTSCs with silicon back‐contact (BC) bottom cells present a highly promising architecture. This configuration offers benefits such as freedom from current mismatch, reduced parasitic absorption, and high module power output. This review provides the first comprehensive assessment of 3TTSCs from the dual perspective of the silicon bottom cell and the perovskite top cell, systematically examining how the choice among tunnel‐oxide passivated back‐contact (TBC), heterojunction back‐contact (HBC), and tunnel‐oxide passivated hybrid back‐contact (THBC) technologies shapes perovskite design, fabrication compatibility, and device stability. We critically analyze the optical and electrical loss mechanisms unique to the 3T architecture, evaluate module‐level voltage‐matching strategies and energy‐yield performance, and identify the key bottlenecks that currently limit commercial deployment. A forward‐looking perspective on cost‐competitive manufacturing routes and stability‐driven perovskite optimization is provided, highlighting the TBC‐based pathway as the most promising near‐term industrialization strategy.
