Beyond the Projection: Assumption Engineering, Candidate Structural Generators, and the Search for New AI Architectures

This article introduces assumption engineering as a structured response to demonstrated technological capability. It distinguishes feasibility from uniqueness and minimality and asks which conditions are fundamental, which belong to the demonstrated implementation, and which alternative organizations could produce equal or greater validated value. The paper develops projection families, candidate structural generators, engineering surfaces, and exclusion-first testing as methods for enlarging the architectural search space beyond imitation. Frontier AI systems are treated as feasibility witnesses rather than blueprints to reproduce. Structural Calculus Language is presented as preliminary computational work for representing structural states, projections, signatures, admissible refinements, validation, fallback, and authority separation. The article does not claim that a universal structural generator has been established or that the preliminary SCL results constitute independent validation of the broader hypothesis.
