France, the 'Next Africa'? What global warming really changes in heat, water and the timing of nature
This student review examines whether global warming could make parts of France experience climatic conditions currently associated with more southern regions. It explains why Africa must not be treated as a single climate and analyses recent changes in French temperatures, rainfall, drought, water availability and wildfire risk. The article also explores the consequences for human life, agriculture, forests and biodiversity, particularly the disruption of ecological timing between plants, insects, birds and water availability. Based on recent official data and scientific literature, it proposes a testable solution called the Climate–Nature Mismatch Passport (CNMP). This tool could help organisations identify climate pressure, ecological mismatches, habitat vulnerability and appropriate adaptation measures. This is a narrative student review and does not report new experimental or field data.
