Preoperative frailty as a potential confounder in assessing treatment interval before curative colon cancer surgery
We read with great interest the study by Strous and colleagues evaluating the association between treatment interval, cancer-free survival (CFS), and overall survival (OS) among patients undergoing curative surgery for colon cancer [1]. The authors should be commended for addressing a clinically important question in geriatric oncology: whether extending the interval between diagnosis and surgery may provide a safe window for prehabilitation, particularly among patients at increased risk of postoperative complications.
