Before the Name: Revelations (2012) and the A Priori Origins of Mythotechnic Fiction—A Genealogical Analysis of the Divine Machine, Dark Leadership, and Mythic Authority

This conceptual and retrospective paper examines Revelations (2012) as the earliest presently documented creative expression of Francisco M. Martinez’s Mythotechnic imagination. It advances the concept of the “Mythotechnic a priori”: an integrating intuition—recalled by the author as originating in youth—that technology, mythology, theology, metaphysics, consciousness, institutional authority, and moral power occupy a common narrative field. Through a two-pass retrospective analysis, the paper first examines Revelations within its original narrative context and then compares its structures with Martinez’s later theories of Mythotechnic Fiction, dark leadership, Promethean authority, the Responsible Bearer, Predatory Institutional Gothic, and mythic authority. The analysis identifies early configurations of the divine machine, technologically mediated angels and demons, soul-directed science, corporate sovereignty, metaphysical warfare, compromised consent, and categorical control. The paper does not claim that the 2026 theoretical framework caused or was fully formulated within the 2012 novel. Rather, it argues that the later scholarship names and organizes imaginative structures already present in the earlier work. Revelations therefore functions as an archival witness to the conceptual ancestry of the Mythic Authority Research Program. The paper includes relational diagrams, boundary conditions, methodological limitations, and research propositions for tracing the continuing development of Mythotechnic Fiction.
