ACSHS: An Agent-based Crowd Simulation Method for Heritage Sites

The increasing number of visitors at heritage sites presents significant challenges for managing visitor flow and preserving cultural assets. Crowd simulation offers new perspectives and tools for understanding and managing visitor flows. However, traditional crowd simulation methods fall short of capturing the complexities of visitor dynamics, resulting in inadequate simulation performance that fails to reflect real-world scenarios accurately. In this paper, we introduce an Agent-based Crowd Simulation Method for Heritage Sites (ACSHS), a novel method designed to enhance precision in crowd simulation by modeling individual visitor behaviors and decision-making processes. In particular, the method incorporates a parameter-tuning phase, adapting the model parameters to practical scenarios with few calibration data. The experiments confirmed the method's accuracy and stability. Furthermore, we utilized ACSHS to conduct a series of capacity analysis applications for the Palace Museum's Treasure Gallery, offering valuable insights to assist relevant personnel in policy formulation.
