Legion of Monads: On the Multiplication of the Simple

Legion of Monads: On the Multiplication of the Simple develops the argument of The Monad That Receives by asking how a simple, indivisible subject can appear as many without ceasing to be one. Through a constructive engagement with Leibniz's monadology and the biblical account of the Gerasene demoniac, this essay argues that multiplicity does not arise from the division of the substance but from the abdication of the act by which the subject occupies its own center. Distinguishing reception from occupancy, it introduces abdication as a condition of the self rather than a property of its boundary. The result is a metaphysical account in which exorcism restores occupancy rather than composition, preserving both the simplicity of the person and the possibility of genuine relation.
