Branching Information Dynamics: A Conceptual Framework for Accumulation, Branching, and Irreversibility in Cosmology
Physical reality is treated here not as a fixed structure but as the accumulated product of irreversible branching events. Branching Information Dynamics (BID) is a conceptual framework in which possibilities evolve under a Schrodinger-style linear operator equation, realized branches are selected by decoherence-like dynamics, and permanent entropy-weighted traces accumulate into the structure of the realized world. The framework is formalized through eight axioms on a Hilbert-space density operator; a scalar accumulation functional X(t), defined as the time-integral of entropy-weighted branch occupation; and a Lindblad-type dissipator that drives irreversible record production. A phenomenological coherence index Lambda_coh connects the formalism to a threshold law for the probability of sustained complex structure. Life is positioned within this picture as a coded-catalytic branch - an information-organized process that shapes, without violating, the underlying conservation laws. BID is presented as a structural analogy drawn from quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and information theory, not as a formally derived extension of any established theory.
