Five-Dimensional Hydrodynamic Spacetime: Time Density and Dark Energy Complementarity

We propose a theoretical framework in which time is treated as aphysical substance characterized by a density field rho_time(x,t).This "hydrodynamic spacetime" theory introduces a complementarityprinciple: the product of time density (the w-potential) and darkenergy density (the drawing cost) is locally constant,w × rho_DE = const. Regions containing matter require additionaldrawing costs to maintain their structure, increasing rho_DE anddecreasing w—which is the geometric origin of gravitational timedilation. The total time density of the universe is conserved:rho_time(t) · a(t)^3 = E_0, where E_0 is a constant determined atthe birth of the universe. By formulating this theory in a five-dimensional spacetime withcoordinates (x,y,z,w,t), where w represents the geometricmanifestation of time density, we derive observable consequencesincluding gravitational time dilation and provide a geometricfoundation for energy-momentum relations. A central result is thatthe background metric is five-dimensional Minkowski spacetime inRindler coordinates, with the five-dimensional Riemann tensorvanishing identically (R^(5) = 0). Through Gauss-Codazzidecomposition, the four-dimensional effective Einstein equations onthe w = w_max hypersurface naturally reproduce standard generalrelativity, including the correct light deflection angle 4GM/(bc^2).Here w_max(t) is the cosmic-vacuum w-value—the brane location ofobservers—which sets the lapse function dτ/dt = w/w_max and thelocal light speed c(w) = (w/w_max)c_0, so that the vacuum itselfrealizes the reference rate dτ/dt = 1. At the present epochw_max ≈ hbar/(m_e c), a relation fixed by the electron's role asthe marginally stable lightest charged particle. Dark energy is reinterpreted as "drawing energy"—the cost requiredto maintain spatial dimensions and particle structures within thefive-dimensional spacetime. This cost prevents space and particlesfrom losing their dimensional extent. It is locally unobservable(by the equivalence principle) but drives cosmological expansion, providing a geometric resolution of the cosmological constantproblem. This resolution is now quantitative: the asymptoticexpansion rate follows in closed form,hbar·H_inf = (m_e^3/M_P^2)·(4π)^(16/3 + 6g_0), reproducing theobserved value to +0.3% with no fitted parameter—the drawing budgetfreezes at the maintenance floor of the drawn structure. The theorysuccessfully reproduces known effects such as GPS time dilation(Δτ/τ ~ 10^-9) and is fully consistent with general relativity inthe weak-field limit. A single supply-and-relaxation mechanism ofthe w-field, governed by a constant kinematic viscosity, isproposed to underlie both the Hubble tension and the apparentdark-energy evolution reported by DESI; the operative falsifiablestatement is a correlation prediction—the two anomalies must proveboth real or both systematic.
