Dialogic inquiry interviews: presenting a novel method for exploring young people's conceptualisations of well-being
This article introduces the Dialogic Inquiry Interview, a novel method to explore young people's perspectives on abstract concepts, exemplified by an inquiry into well-being. Addressing ethical and epistemological challenges in youth research, this method integrates participatory principles, dialogic teaching theory and facilitation techniques from Philosophy with Children. The Dialogic Inquiry Interview emphasises mutual respect and shared authority, fostering a co-creative, dialogic and participatory interview environment. Through iterative development and practical application, the article demonstrates the method's potential to deepen participant involvement and articulate thoughts on abstract concepts, discussing strengths and limitations of this approach and highlighting ethical and methodological impacts.
