Development and Application of a Customized Board Game, Block Building Biosensors , To Improve the Assimilation of (Bio)Sensor Concepts: An Active Methodology Approach To Tackle the Device Design Challenge

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide The field of biosensors is currently recognized as one of the most significant areas of research in analytical chemistry. However, designing these devices presents challenges due to the numerous options available and the impact of various components (biological recognition elements, transducers, and modifiers) on the resulting analytical features. Students also often struggle with assimilating the concepts related to this topic. To address this issue, we present a novel board game specifically designed to facilitate this learning process. This work provides a comprehensive description of the game design and fabrication process. Additionally, it includes relevant considerations for guiding future research. The results obtained were highly positive, both in terms of student feedback regarding the game design and their subsequent evaluation of the basic and advanced concepts learned, demonstrating the game effectiveness in development and application.
