A RICH detector for the ALADDIN experiment

ALADDIN is a proposed fixed-target experiment at the LHC aimed at measuring the electromagnetic dipole moments of charmed baryons. Efficient particle identification of highly boosted decay products up to the TeV scale requires a gaseous RICH detector with excellent angular resolution. This contribution presents optimization studies of the RICH optical layout based on detailed simulation, together with first laboratory R&D measurements of the photon-detection system.

Abstract

ALADDIN is a proposed fixed-target experiment at the LHC aimed at measuring the electromagnetic dipole moments of charmed baryons. Efficient particle identification of highly boosted decay products up to the TeV scale requires a gaseous RICH detector with excellent angular resolution. This contribution presents optimization studies of the RICH optical layout based on detailed simulation, together with first laboratory R&D measurements of the photon-detection system.
