Correlations of multifrequency impedance components with water conductivity
Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) offers a promising method for water quality analysis, in which the real part of the admittance is closely linked to water conductivity. However, the precise degree of this correlation and the influence of alternative electrode configurations remain to be fully explored. This study aimed to examine the level of the conductance correlation with water conductivity and investigate the relation of some other parameters with it by using electrical impedance spectroscopy and different electrode configurations. Various electrode arrangements were connected to an impedance spectrometer to measure the impedance of different water samples. The results demonstrated that the conductance measured correlates well with the water conductivity. In addition, the real part of admittance is a more accurate indicator of water conductivity than its imaginary part. Better accuracy can be gained with the near electrode system. The study indicates the feasibility of using impedance spectroscopy as a reliable sensor for water conductivity measurement.
