Higher Hyperthermia Efficacy at Lower Concentration of Dextran Coated Zn 0 . 6 Co 0 . 4 Fe 2 O 4 Nanoparticles Prepared by Sol-Gel Auto-Combustion for Localized/Deeply-Seated Tumor Tre
This study investigated the efficacy of dextran-coated Zn0.6Co0.4Fe2O4 nanoparticles (ZnCoFe NPs) at low concentrations for localized and deeply seated cancer treatment through magnetic hyperthermia. Zinc–cobalt spinel ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized using the sol–gel method, coated with dextran, and subsequently characterized for their structural, morphological, and thermal properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the formation of a single-phase cubic spinel ferrite structure. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited efficient magnetic hyperthermia performance, reaching approximately 48 °C at a relatively low concentration of 0.5 kg·m-³, within 1800 s. This suggests good heating efficiency and indicates their potential for biomedical hyperthermia applications.
