Ternary Metal‐Organic Framework/Graphene Oxide/Epoxy Nanocomposite Coatings for Corrosion Protection: A Review
ABSTRACT Metal‐organic framework (MOF) structured graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites have become a rapidly evolving field for enhancing anti‐corrosion performance in epoxy coatings. Recent research highlights the synergy between MOF and GO, exploring the tunable pore structure and barrier properties of these hybrid materials for epoxy coating. In this review, various forms of epoxy resins and their curing agents for enhanced epoxy coating are discussed. An elaborate discussion on major forms and synthesis of metal‐organic frameworks that can be used for epoxy coating is also made in the work. Due to the emerging technology of graphene oxides in corrosion protection, their strategic forms and synthesis process are highlighted. The review also identifies the emerging research and trends in epoxy coatings with MOF, GO, and a composite of MOF and GO. Interestingly, the review concluded by highlighting gaps in the literature and made some vital recommendations for future research on epoxy coating.
