Consensus-Based SOC balancing control of hybrid energy storage systems
Renewable energy intermittency challenges power grid stability. Coordinated control of hybrid energy storage systems (HESSs) with batteries (BATs) and supercapacitors (SCs) is difficult, as conventional methods cannot simultaneously equalize the state of charge (SOC) of BATs and preserve the fast response of SCs. This paper proposes a distributed coordinated control for HESSs in microgrids, where BATs achieve SOC balancing and power sharing via local consensus, while SCs use state-of-energy allocation to avoid fast-response degradation from consensus dynamics. Simulations show the method achieves SOC equalization of BATs while maintaining high-frequency compensation of SCs.
