Special Issue of Research Centre Řež: Nuclear-Engineering Activities in 2026

Abstract This special issue is dedicated primarily to research performed in the Research Centre Řež (Centrum výzkumu Řež) during the CICRR project, which is the follow-up of the previous (R4S) project Research for SUSEN and (SUSEN) project (Sustainable Energy project that were successfully completed at previous years. Research Centre Řež (Figure 1) is a research organization founded in 2002. It is a member of the UJV Group (research and specialized services for energy, industry and nuclear medicine), and it is focused on the pre-commercial research in the nuclear field and in nuclear and non-nuclear power-generation technologies. The Czech International Centre of Research Reactors (CICRR) is a major Czech research infrastructure operated by Research Centre Řež (CVR), providing advanced experimental facilities for nuclear science, reactor physics, materials research, and radiation applications. It integrates the LVR-15 research reactor, the LR-0 zero-power reactor, 252Cf isotopic neutron source, participation in the Jules Horowitz Reactor (JHR), and a broad range of supporting laboratories, hot cells, and experimental loops. CICRR supports research on current and advanced nuclear systems, including Generation III/IV reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), and fusion technologies. Through its open-access program, the infrastructure serves researchers from academia, industry, and international organizations, enabling cutting-edge experiments in nuclear safety, materials qualification, irradiation testing, and reactor development. It was funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
