State Setting: A Conceptual Framework with Longitudinal EEG and HRV Observations During Passive Exposure
This preprint defines State Setting as a distinct and falsifiable category of state-related intervention: the production of a physiological and attentional state through an external, invariant sequence that requires no effort, instruction, decision, skill, motivation or belief from the recipient. The paper distinguishes State Setting from State Measuring and State Training and proposes four criteria: input invariance, recipient independence, signature reproducibility and context independence. It also reports longitudinal EEG and cardiac-coherence observations collected during passive exposure to a fixed audiovisual sequence in more than 40 individuals between June 2025 and July 2026. The paper does not claim clinical efficacy, causality, therapeutic effects, uniform autonomic responses or full validation of the proposed criteria. Its purpose is to establish the first citable record of the State Setting framework and define the conditions under which it can be independently tested and falsified.
