The Digital Brand Experience Framework: Touchpoint Consistency as a Measurable Driver of Conversion in Cold-Traffic Acquisition Funnels

Business-to-business and business-to-consumer firms alike routinely treat advertising, messaging-platformonboarding, and post-registration communication as independently optimized channels rather than as a singledesigned system. This paper introduces the Digital Brand Experience Framework (DBEF), which conceptualizesbrand experience as a property of the relationships between touchpoints - thematic cohesion, messageconsistency, and context sensitivity - rather than a property of any single channel's aesthetics. Drawing oncustomer journey design theory (Kuehnl et al., 2019) and B2B brand-as-risk-heuristic theory (Brown et al., 2011),the paper proposes that touchpoint consistency operates as the primary mechanism linking brand experienceinvestment to conversion outcomes. We report a 30-day cold-traffic pilot from a messenger-first acquisition funnel(wellness-adjacent education vertical, anonymized) that tested this mechanism directly: after aligning advertisingcopy, messenger onboarding, and registration-page promise around a single narrative, first-contact-to-leadconversion rose from 0.20% to 24.6% - a 123-fold relative improvement - while cost-per-subscriber and trafficquality remained within pre-existing market benchmarks. A track-level funnel decomposition, run separately for thechannel and bot acquisition paths, further shows that once message consistency was corrected, the bindingconstraint shifted downstream, to webinar attendance rather than lead capture, illustrating that DBEF functions asa diagnostic tool for locating the weakest link in a conversion system rather than a general claim that "brandexperience increases revenue." Benchmarking the pilot's key rates against public 2026 industry data corroboratesthis pattern externally: the corrected lead-conversion stage moved from below-market to above-market, while thestill-unresolved attendance stage remains below the public cross-industry average. We discuss the framework'sboundary conditions, distinguish measured from estimated figures throughout, and outline its intended extensionto business-to-business trust-services contexts.
