Complete Genome Sequence of Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus Isolated from Green Onion (Allium fistulosum) in China

In this project, the complete genome sequence of Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) isolated from symptomatic green onion (Allium fistulosum) plants in Shandong Province, China, was obtained. The host plants were collected during a follow-up survey of a tomato field with a severe ToBRFV outbreak, where decomposing symptomatic tomato fruits had accumulated in an open disposal pit. Total RNA was extracted from symptomatic green onion leaves, and the complete viral genome was amplified using overlapping reverse transcription PCR fragments, with the 5' and 3' untranslated regions obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The assembled genome sequence provides molecular evidence for ToBRFV infection in A. fistulosum and supports further investigation of non-solanaceous hosts and potential environmental exposure associated with infected tomato fruit disposal.
