6P Exploring the therapeutic potential of BclxL inhibitors with distinct modes of action in a living biobank of patient-derived ex vivo ovarian cancer models (OCMs)
Evasion of apoptosis is a hallmark of cancer, often driven by upregulation of pro-survival Bcl2 family proteins. Historically, these proteins were targeted to sensitise tumours to other therapies. Our previous work identified BclxL as a potential monotherapy target in ovarian cancer, challenging this paradigm. However, clinical translation of BclxL inhibitors is limited by thrombocytopaenia. To address this, tumour-selective BclxL degraders such as PROTACs (Proteolysis Targeting Chimaeras) have been developed and are in early phase clinical trials.
