213eP L1CAM in vulvar carcinoma: A biomarker without prognostic impact?
The prognosis of vulvar cancer is primarily determined by histopathological features, including tumor size, grade, depth of stromal invasion, and lymphovascular space involvement, with lymph node status remaining the most important predictor of clinical outcome. However, there is a need for more specific molecular markers. Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a key mechanism in tumor progression and metastasis. Among the pathways involved in EMT, the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway—potentially activated by L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM)—may play an important role.
