Low‐Cost Lanthanum Nickel Manganese Oxide‐Based Photodetector With PCBM and CuI Transport Layers for Eco‐Friendly Applications

ABSTRACT In this article, an environmentally benign lead‐free double‐perovskite photodetector with a configuration of FTO/PCBM/La 2 NiMnO 6 /CuI/carbon has been proposed. The proposed design configuration has been numerically analyzed using SCAPS‐1D to develop a high‐performance photodetector by optimizing absorber thickness, acceptor doping, defect density, and interfacial quality. LNMO (lanthanum nickel manganese oxide) acts as an absorber that exhibits a high absorption coefficient greater than 100,000 cm −1 in the visible–NIR region and possesses favorable band alignment with PCBM (phenyl‐C 61 ‐butyric acid methyl ester) and CuI (copper (I) iodide) material for efficient charge extraction with reduced recombination. It gives a peak responsivity of 0.62 A W −1 at wavelengths of 800–840 nm and a detectivity of 1.1 × 10 15 Jones under optimized parameters, 1‐μm absorber with N A ≈ 10 16 cm −3 , N t ≈ 10 14 cm −3 . The temperature and interface‐trap analyses, therefore, highlighted thermal robustness and the dominant role of interfacial recombination in limiting performance. Thus, the obtained results indicated that proposed La 2 NiMnO 6 ‐based double‐perovskite structures integrated with sustainable transport layers act as a promising low‐toxicity path toward stable and cost‐efficient photodetectors for applications in optical communication, imaging, and environmental sensing.
