Perceptions of museum transitional spaces: a virtual reality study
This pilot study looks at how people respond to transitional spaces in museums. Thirty-one participants explored five architecturally distinct museums using 360-degree photos in virtual reality. Their emotional responses were measured using the Circumplex Affect Model (CAM), and their design preferences were gathered through open-ended questions and interviews. This study offers a glimpse into how museum architecture affects visitors’ feelings, and points to ways architects, curators and designers might create more engaging transitional spaces.
