Design and Structural Analysis of Different Types of Flywheels for Wind Turbine Energy Storage
There has been an increasingly growing interest in flywheel-based energy storage mechanisms within the energy generation industry over the past couple of years. They offer large storage capacity, high energy density, and very rapid responses, which are normally less than one second. The According to reports, Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS) are a useful way to lessen the sporadic character of renewable energy sources like wind power. This paper is mainly concerned with systematic design, modelling, and analysis of flywheel designs that can be used in the next generation of energy storage. This project aims at the design of an efficient, cost-effective, and mechanically reliable flywheel system has a high charge-discharge rate, a long lifespan, and a high energy density. The project outlines the entire development and design process in a systematic style, beginning with the analysis of recent studies on flywheel technology and concluding with the final system design. There is a special emphasis on how to enhance the total efficiency through critical analysis of mechanical effects on rotating systems, imbalance, vibration, aerodynamic drag, as well as gyroscopic behaviour. Besides, the proposed research designates potential avenues of future research and justifies the methodological way of conducting the study.
