Artificial Intelligence in Dental Practice: Current Trends and Future Perspectives

ABSTRACT: The significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in several facets of dental care is highlighted in this paper. These days, AI is becoming more widely accepted and significant in many industries, notably in dentistry. The development of Chat Generative Pre-training Transformer shows how far AI has already come in a relatively brief span of time, especially when we take into account that John McCarthy initially created this field of computer-aided training in 1956. AI has been demonstrated to have a variety of applications in dentistry. AI is being used in a variety of fields, including endodontics, where it can determine working length, observe internal anatomy, predict the viability and future prospects of dental pulp stem cells, examine periapical lesions, diagnose root and tooth fractures, and estimate the outlook of retrodontics. It may be helpful in assessment in radiology. It facilitates treatment planning in orthodontics. It aids in the distinction between aggressive and chronic periodontitis in periodontics. It is possible to identify precancerous lesions in oral pathology.
