Acetic Acid-Assisted Electrochemical Ipso -Nitration of Aryl Borides Using Ferric Nitrate Nonahydrate

An efficient electrochemical ipso -nitration of aryl borides has been developed. Using Fe(NO 3 ) 3 · 9H 2 O as the nitrating reagent and AcOH as a promoter, the reaction proceeds under mild conditions to afford nitroarenes within only 2 h. This protocol eliminates the need for stoichiometric oxidants, demonstrates broad functional group tolerance and scalability, and delivers nitroarenes in good to excellent yields. Mechanistic studies, including radical trapping and cyclic voltammetry experiments, support a nitro radical-involved pathway.
