Seven Days to Skin: A Miraculous Turnaround of a Venous Ulcer in Midlife – A Case Report

Chronic venous ulcers (CVUs), the gravest manifestation of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), remain a formidable therapeutic challenge, marked by persistent pain, delayed healing, frequent recurrence, and profound impairment of quality of life.Despite advances in endovenous therapy, complete ulcer healing within days is exceedingly rare and scarcely documented. We present an extraordinary case of a 45-year-old diabetic male with a distal venous leg ulcer secondary to great saphenous vein (GSV) incompetence, treated with VenaSeal -a cyanoacrylate-based, nonthermal, minimally invasive endovenous ablation technique.Remarkably, the ulcer demonstrated striking clinical improvement within 72 hours, progressing to complete epithelialization and total resolution by day 7.The patient reported dramatic relief from pain and limb heaviness, with no evidence of procedural discomfort, phlebitis, infection, allergic reaction, or recurrence, even in the presence of stasis dermatitis.Follow-up duplex ultrasonography at 2 weeks confirmed full occlusion of the treated vein and complete elimination of reflux. This unprecedentedly rapid healing underscores the transformative potential of cyanoacrylate closure as a paradigm-shifting intervention in the management of CVUs.
