Animal study of NSAID agent (Tolfenamic acid) for safety profile assessment after multiple administration
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the safety profile of Tolfenamic acid in wistar rats after multiple intramuscular administration. Methods: The safety profile of Tolfenamic acid (4 mg/kg) was assessed following intramuscular administration over a period of 14 days in wistar rats. Hematology, biochemistry, gross lesions and histopathological examinations were performed. Results: No significant alterations in absolute and relative organ weights were noted in the wistar rats treated with Tolfenamic acid. Hematology and biochemistry parameters for male and female rats in the treatment group did not show any significant differences compared to control animals. During the gross pathological examination, no abnormal lesions were detected. Conclusion: Tolfenamic acid can be safely administered through repeated intramuscular injections without any observed side effects.
