Behavior of Two Nearby Strip Fundation Located on Slope

The behavior of adjacent strip foundations on slopes is a complex geotechnical problem due to soil-structure interaction, which significantly affects bearing capacity, settlement, and stability. This study investigates the interaction mechanism between two nearby strip foundations on a slope using the finite element method (FEM) via PLAXIS 2D. The numerical model incorporates slope and foundation geometries, soil properties (shear strength and stiffness), and boundary conditions. The analysis evaluates initial stress states, applied loads, and the resulting deformation and stress distributions. Key parameters, including foundation spacing, distance from the slope crest, and soil characteristics, are parametrically investigated. The results provide insights into foundation settlement, bearing capacity, and deformation patterns. This study highlights the necessity of considering interaction effects for foundations on slopes, offering findings that can guide design practices and improve the understanding of soil-structure interaction.
