Contributions to the knowledge of the large carrion and burying beetles (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Silphinae) from Romania

This paper presents a faunistic study on 21 large carrion and burying beetle species/subspecies for Romania (13 belonging to Silphini and eight to Nicrophorini). The treatment for each species/subspecies consists of Romanian localities and temporal distribution of the records based on the Grigore Antipa Museum collections. The Romanian bibliography of silphids is reviewed and analysed. The distribution maps are given for the first time for all the species/subspecies. Silpha ( Phosphuga ) atrata atrata , Silpha ( Silpha ) carinata , S. ( S. ) obscura obscura and Nicrophorus vespilloides are the species/subspecies with the most data.
