A Waveform Design Method to Improve the Efficiency of a Carrierless Hybrid Inverter

Although carrierless hybrid inverters combine a diode-clamped linear amplifier with a T-type inverter, improving their efficiency with conventional techniques requires additional components. This study proposes a waveform design method to improve efficiency without adding extra devices. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves inverter efficiency by 2.19 percentage points at a unity modulation index.

Abstract

Although carrierless hybrid inverters combine a diode-clamped linear amplifier with a T-type inverter, improving their efficiency with conventional techniques requires additional components. This study proposes a waveform design method to improve efficiency without adding extra devices. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves inverter efficiency by 2.19 percentage points at a unity modulation index.
