Statistical Correlations in Green Synthesis of Nanoceria: Linking Process Parameters to Nanoparticle Properties

ABSTRACT Cerium oxide nanoparticles are prominently synthesized using a plant‐mediated green synthesis route. During green synthesis, different synthesis parameters significantly influence the characteristic properties of the resulting nanoparticles. This study aims to develop a generalized correlation between synthesis parameters and the characteristic properties of nanoparticles using different statistical analysis methods and a dataset comprising synthesis parameters and corresponding characteristic properties of plant‐mediated green‐synthesized nanoceria reported in various articles in the literature. Spearman correlation test demonstrated significant negative impact of reaction temperature on zeta‐potential (= ‐0.7, p = 0.017) and polydispersity index ( ρ = ‐0.9, p = 0.037), while calcination period exhibited a negative impact on nanoparticle size (= ‐0.315, p = 0.008). Calcination period and reaction temperature have been identified as the most impactful synthesis parameters by PCA and PLS. This study will demonstrate how to optimize synthesis parameters to achieve desired characteristic properties during plant‐mediated green synthesis of nanoceria.
