Articulating the Value of Accredited Nursing Continuing Professional Development Programs

The work of American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) Accredited Providers is essential to advancing nursing practice, workforce readiness, and organizational outcomes. Yet, the value of these programs is often underarticulated. The 2025 ANCC NCPD Accreditation™ criteria emphasize mission clarity, intentional expected results, and program-level outcome analysis through the structural capacity and quality outcomes criteria. This column examines how the criteria function as leadership and administrative tools rather than solely accreditation requirements and explores how mission-driven planning and meaningful outcome analysis enable Accredited Provider Program Directors to articulate impact, strengthen strategic alignment, and position NCPD as a driver of organizational success.
