Evaluation of Thermal Control Performance and Safety of Hydrogen Electric Bus Thermal Management System Based on Heat Plate Structure and Flow Optimization

Purpose: To optimize hydrogen fuel cell bus chiller performance by analyzing turbulence in Dimple/Dimple plates, aiming for higher heat dissipation with minimal pressure drop.
Methods: Flow analysis was conducted using CFD on various Dimple designs, comparing heat transfer and pressure drop against a Base model.
Results: Among the top 5 models, No. 12 showed the highest heat transfer gain (13.0%) but a 48.6% pressure drop increase. Model No. 11 was optimal, improving heat transfer by 6.4% while maintaining the pressure drop within a 1.1% error margin of the Base model.
Conclusion: The Dimple structure proves effective for high-efficiency, compact chiller design. Future work will include real-world testing and research on Offset Strip Fin structures.
