Assessing the Educational Potential of School Environment

As destructive behavior patterns among adolescents become more prevalent, schools must enhance their educational environments as tools for prevention and successful socialization. This article introduces a reliable self-assessment questionnaire designed to identify risk factors for destructive behavior and evaluate school resources based on values, objectives, norms, rules, and organizational structure. The pilot study employed a literature review, in-depth interviews with teachers, and the aforementioned questionnaire. The sample consisted of 310 adolescents (aged 10–18) and 64 staff members from two schools. The questionnaire comprised nine sections covering key parameters of the school environment, with each section evaluating resource and risk indices on a scale of 0 to 10. The findings revealed significant discrepancies between teachers and students regarding the perceived fairness of disciplinary measures. Additionally, students reported high levels of academic stress and the presence of covert bullying. Future research will involve a larger sample to develop differentiated recommendations for enhancing the educational potential of various school types.
