Honorarium guidance for involvement activities in research projects
This guidance provides recommendations for the fair recognition and compensation of citizens, people with lived experience, and other practice partners who contribute to research projects. It outlines principles for meaningful involvement, highlights different forms of participation throughout the research process, and offers practical guidance on honoraria, reimbursement, accessibility, and inclusive engagement. The document also includes recommended honorarium rates based on the level of time commitment, preparation, responsibility, and complexity of the contribution. It is intended to support researchers and research organisations in implementing transparent, equitable, and respectful involvement practices.
