The genome sequence of the hoverfly, Sericomyia silentis (Harris, 1776) (Diptera: Syrphidae)
<ns5:p> We present a genome assembly from an individual male <ns5:italic>Sericomyia silentis</ns5:italic> (hoverfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 759.39 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.16%) is scaffolded into 7 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.4 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland. </ns5:p>
