Generalizability, Validity, and Applicability of Ayurveda Research: Need to Emphasize the Precise Application of Various Statistical Models
IntroductIonWith the inclusion of research methodology and medical statistics in the Ayurveda undergraduate curriculum, mandatory research publication in postgraduate, and consideration of research publications in evaluating academic and organizational performance. 1The increasing number of research publications has resulted in a rise in expectations for scientific contributions from Ayurveda. The attention of the scientific community, policymakers, and the public has heightened the need for robust, scientifically assessed research data presentation that meets the requirements of reliability, validity, and thereby generalizability. In scientific research, reporting the outcome alone may not be sufficient to present the research's contribution. It is expected that the research demonstrates its findings in a systematic way, such that is broadly relevant and applicable, and that the interpretation is supported by rigorous analysis and evidence-based approaches. In this context, it can be said that the research data analysis is a vital point, as it is a mirror that reflects the nature of the findings and their applicability to a larger population. In other words, the key pillars of responsible research, i.e., generalizability, validity, and applicability, depend heavily on the precision of appropriate data analysis. It is imperative in the context of clinical trials, where the precise use of appropriate statistical models to analyze the significance of results is highly crucial.
