Before the Beginning: Configuration Space, the Pre-Structural Ground, and the Ontology of Genesis 1:2
This paper argues that tohu va-bohu (Genesis 1:2) designates not chaos but that which has not yet been ordered—a condition prior to order and disorder. From confirmed quantum superposition, the argument moves through configuration space and Wave-Function Realism to conclude that spacetime is the continuous structural expression of a timeless ground. At that limit, the framework points toward a pre-structural condition in which all possible states coexist without distinction, informationally equivalent to nothing—a philosophical implication going explicitly beyond Wave-Function Realism. Analysis of B’reshit, tohu va-bohu, Tehom, Merachefet, and badel demonstrates that Genesis 1:1–2 maps this ordering process with grammatical and etymological precision. Copenhagen and Many Worlds share a false premise; the simulation hypothesis commits a category error; and independent triangulation from physics, mathematics, philosophy, and contemplative traditions fixes the same pre-structural ground. Demanding empirical evidence for tohu va-bohu is a category mistake: the pre-structural ground is the condition of possibility for empirical reality and cannot be an object within it.
