Rapid analysis of hydrocarbon substances in high-purity ammonia by gas chromatography
A method for analyzing trace hydrocarbon impurities in high-purity ammonia (≥99.999%) using a gas chromatograph equipped with a pulse discharge helium ionization detector (PDHID) has been proposed. The system uses a ten-way valve and two packed columns to analyze hydrocarbon substances in ammonia gas. Under optimal analysis conditions, when the injection volume is 1 mL, the quantification limit of the method can be as low as 0.01 µmol/mol. This method can complete the analysis of various hydrocarbon substances through a single injection, making the operation simpler and the results more accurate. It has broad application value for the rapid analysis of trace impurities in ultra-pure gases.
