PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF FUZZY LOGIC-BASED PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEMS IN INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES

This study aims to develop and analyze both PID and fuzzy logic controllers for the regulation of pressure control processes. Accurate pressure measurement and control are critical requirements in a wide range of industrial applications. Fuzzy control techniques are based on fuzzy logic, which more closely reflects human reasoning and linguistic decision-making compared to conventional binary logic systems. In recent years, fuzzy logic control has attracted significant attention as an effective approach for handling industrial processes that are difficult to model mathematically due to nonlinear behavior and uncertainty in input–output relationships. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) enables the transformation of expert knowledge and linguistic control rules into an automated control strategy. Compared to traditional PID controllers, fuzzy logic controllers exhibit improved stability, reduced overshoot, and faster dynamic response. In this study, the dynamic performance of PID and fuzzy logic controllers is evaluated using MATLAB and Simulink. A comparative analysis based on time-domain performance indices is carried out to demonstrate the superiority of the fuzzy logic controller in terms of overshoot reduction and response speed when compared with the conventional PID controller.
