EVALUATION OF CYTOREDUCTIVE SURGERY COMBINED WITH HYPERTHERMIC INTRAPERITONEAL CHEMOTHERAPY (HIPEC) IN THE MULTIMODAL MANAGEMENT OF ADVANCED PERITONEAL CARCINOMATOSIS
Abstract. This study analyzes the therapeutic efficacy, survival rates, and complication profiles of CRS plus HIPEC in patients suffering from diffuse peritoneal surface malignancies. A retrospective evaluation of patients undergoing this multimodal strategy demonstrated that a low Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) and complete cytoreduction (CC-0) are crucial indicators of prolonged overall survival. Despite considerable hematological and gastrointestinal toxicities, the regional dose intensification and thermal enhancement of cytotoxicity offer a substantial survival advantage compared to conventional systemic chemotherapy alone.
