Generalization of the Hybrid Geomechanical Model for Cortical Rupture: Application across Variable Tectonic Regimes
This paper presents the generalization of a hybrid geomechanical model that integrates the Timoshenkobeam analogy with thermomechanical numerical simulations. By incorporating a stress projectionmethod that accounts for variable fault dip angles (θ), we demonstrate that the underlying master equationis robust and transferable across different tectonic environments. The model’s predictive capabilityis validated against empirical data from compressive (San Juan), subduction (Central Chile), and extensional(Central Mexico) regimes, consistently maintaining an error margin within ±4 − 7%.
