True Projections, Partial Worlds: Plato, Abbott, and the Cylinder of Consciousness
This essay uses Plato’s cave, Edwin A. Abbott’s Flatland, and the image of the cylinder to distinguish between true projections and the whole of reality. It argues that different forms of knowledge — science, philosophy, religion, psychology, artificial intelligence, and inner experience — may disclose real aspects of reality without exhausting it. Within the framework of Syntropic Philosophy & Culture, the essay develops a critique of reductionism and proposes epistemic humility, coherence, and disciplined recognition as conditions for dialogue across partial perspectives.
