Emergent Time and Emergent Distance: A Substrate-Drainage Hypothesis
Gravitation, gravitational time dilation, and light deflection are interpreted here as three phenomenological manifestations of a single substrate-depletion mechanism: organized matter reduces its surrounding availability field. This paper develops a substrate-drainage hypothesis in which time, distance, and spacetime geometry are emergent readouts of that field. Where the field is rich, clocks run fast, light travels straight, and space measures flat. Where it is depleted — near organized mass-energy — clocks slow, light bends, and geometry curves. The central postulate is that structured mass-energy locally reduces the availability field that underwrites physical processes.
